The procedure of Making a DIY Ladder Platform for Stairs

I forgot to mention one thing, before going into the ladder platform making process; I would like to inform you that you can also use a ladder leveler to help your ladder set perfectly on the stairs. You can buy a ladder leveler from Amazon or any other marketplace. it’s easy to assemble and safe to use on stairs.
Things Needed
- 1”x 24” x 28” plywood or medium-density fiberboard
- Some 2 inches and 1 ½ inch screws
- 8’ x 2” x 4” pine board
- 8’ x 1” x 2” pine board
Step 1: Measurement
To determine the length of the ladder platform you need to calculate the width and the height of three stair steps. Set a level on the top step of three while placing the tape measure on the lever horizontally and perpendicularly to determine the height, length and width of the ladder platform. Remember, wrong measurements can put a negative effect on the project. So, measure carefully.
Step 2: Preparing the surface
After correctly completing the measuring part, now it is time to prepare the surface of the ladder platform by cutting the plywood. You can use a circular saw to cut the plywood precisely. Prepare the surface by cutting the wood according to the length and width that you get from the previous step. Ensure that you have made a straight cut.
Step 3: Cutting the legs
Cut up the 2 legs using the height that you found on the measurement step. Use a circular saw or mitre saw to cut the legs at an equal size. Now, put them on the inner surface of the ladder platform mark their location using a pencil. After that, find out the distance between these 2 legs. Cut a support board equal to that distance and place it between the 2 legs for further support.
Step 4: Assembling all parts
After measuring and preparing different parts of the ladder platform, now you need to place everything on their pre-assigned position. Use a drill machine to make holes in the legs and the board to attach screws. You should make 2 holes in each leg. At last, attach the platform surface and the legs using a screwdriver and screws. Also, connect the supporting board to the legs.
Step 5: Increase leg support
To provide more stability and strength to the legs you can use another leg support board. To do that you have to measure the distance between the legs and cut a board equal to that distance. Now, you have to cut two 4 inch blocks and place them on the side of the legs. These blocks will help the second support board stay firmly on its position. Finally, bring the second support board on the blocks and secure it with screws.
Step 6: The finishing touch
The last step is to add three 1” x 2” pine boards on three sides of the upper surface of the ladder platform. These borders will prevent the ladder from sliding off of the ladder platform. Use glue and screws to position them nicely.
